Wineries, Breweries & Distilleries
Relaxing with friends, whether at a winery, bar or at home on your back patio is a popular pastime. The Juniata River Valley’s first winery opened in 1984 and is still going strong today. Located near Belleville, Brookmere Winery is one of the ten oldest wineries in the state.
Wineries are not just retail locations – many are premiere event venues that can be booked for special occasions. In addition to producing and distributing their product, in many cases they have also become entertainment venues, offering regularly scheduled live entertainment. Both Seven Mountains Wine Cellars and Juniata Valley Winery host live musicians and these events typically draw large crowds.
Wine isn’t the only libation made here. Whiskey, moonshine and bourbon are distilled locally and microbreweries are capitalizing on the microbrew and craft beer craze, which has energized beer sales, attracting customers who are looking for variety.
While Covid-19 has restricted operations and temporarily halted tastings, curbside pickup, online ordering and outdoor patios are still open and available. These restrictions will hopefully be short-lived.
Several tours, including our own homegrown Pour Tour, direct aficionados to our local venues.
