Festival

of Ice

Founded in 1995, the Festival of Ice kicks off the holiday season in the Juniata River Valley. The event is always held the week after Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday evenings in downtown Lewistown. Spectators watch as chainsaw carvers transform massive blocks of ice into beautiful sculptures. They last only as long as the weather allows, so make sure to see them early. A parade, live entertainment, art exhibits, food vendors, and wagon rides make this the family-friendly event of the season. Be sure to check out the massive model train display from the Mifflin County Model Railroad Club, visit Santa Claus, or shop the holiday market on the Square for a special gift.
